Why Etikay?
Liberia has no shortage of events, trainings, and opportunities. The
problem is finding them—and making them easy to attend. Today,
discovering an event often means searching through Facebook posts,
WhatsApp groups, and old flyers, then filling out a Form and hoping
for a response.
Organisers face the same friction, juggling forms, flyers, payments,
attendee lists, and manual check-ins just to run one event. Etikay
brings it all together in one place, making it easier to manage
events from discovery and registration to payments and check-in.
We’re starting in Liberia with a bigger vision: to give organisers
better tools and make discovering, accessing, and enjoying
experiences across Liberia feel effortless.
Where it started
Etikay began in 2022 as a class project at CS Academy, Orange
Digital Center, where it won the Best Project Award. We saw the
opportunity clearly, but work and other commitments pulled us away
before we could carry it forward.
What kept the idea alive was seeing the same thing happen again and
again. Great programmes struggled to reach beyond the usual circles,
while organisers worked behind the scenes to hold everything
together. There were opportunities worth showing up for, but they
just weren’t always easy to find or experience.
We’ve lived it ourselves. The training we almost missed because the
post got buried, and the registration table where no one could find
our name. Those moments brought us back to Etikay, determined to
build a better way from right here in Monrovia.
